About SVGTO

Mission Statement of SVGTO;

We are a Regional Chapter of the GTO Association America.  We are dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and enjoyment of the Pontiac GTO.

Susquehanna Valley GTO was founded in 1995 in York, Pennsylvania, by a group of local GTO enthusiasts looking to share knowledge, and camaraderie with other like minded enthusiasts. Although we are primarily a Pontiac organization, membership in SVGTO does not require ownership of a GTO, or any Pontiac for that matter, we welcome all muscle car enthusiasts who share an appreciation of the history of what these great cars represented as a whole in the American Muscle Car era.

As a regional chapter of the GTOAA, SVGTO grew in its membership as the club became better known, both locally, regionally, and nationally. The breadth of the club now reaches outside the confines of York County to areas such as Northern Maryland, Exton PA, Gettysburg PA, Ephrata PA, Lancaster PA, Lebanon PA, Conestoga PA, Carlisle PA, Mechanicsburg PA, and the greater Harrisburg area, with members in the Philadelphia area, and New Jersey. The club has grown into a truly regional club and we continue to expand.

By attending shows and cruise functions, the club’s exposure allowed it to grow. At all major area shows as well as many smaller ones, a SVGTO member can be found promoting the club by chatting with other GTO, and Pontiac enthusiasts and supplying them with literature about our club and the national organization.  We support other GTOAA chapters, and are always eager to represent SVGTO at their functions. We accept invites to appear in area public venues in the spirit of community involvement, and charities.  Every August, we hold our yearly All Pontiac Show in Lancaster, PA. Our show is one of the more popular shows and is strictly limited to Pontiacs. Our yearly show draws participants from many different states with Pontiacs of all models, and years. SVGTO is also a co-host of the GTOAA Eastern Regional meet held yearly in Hatfield, PA.

Club sponsored, and organized events such as car-shows, parades, and sightseeing cruises, are planned throughout the entire show/cruise season yearly. We hold our annual club picnic at an area car show, and our yearly holiday party at the season’s end to wrap up the year. We believe a true car enthusiast regardless of the type car they drive, share one major obsession; the appreciation of what the era of Muscle Cars was, and still is.  SVGTO members are encouraged to invite prospective members to join us at functions, cruises, and attending our monthly meeting to see what SVGTO is about. Many current members joined the club as a result of being invited to one of our functions. We believe this is an important tool in recruiting prospective members so they may see firsthand what we do and how we operate.  We also have a member’s referral program.  For every 3 new members a current SVGTO member brings into the club and the new members join the GTOAA, or, the new club members are current GTOAA members, you can earn your next year’s club dues free.  This is on a yearly basis and is limited to one free membership per year.

We have a diverse group of members with many first generation and new generation GTO’s. Currently the ratio is about 60/40, classic vs. new gen.  Members are encouraged to participate in all club functions and add their input on ways to improve the club and submit ideas for functions. Classic GTOs mingle with New Generation GTOs at club functions and shows.

Jones Family of Dealerships in Lancaster, PA a former Pontiac Car dealer is our sponsoring club’s preferred dealer.  Through Jones we are able to provide for our members, 10% discount on all standard parts, and servicing. SVGTO members receive specialized discounts on performance parts and specialized discounts on all new, and used cars Jones sells. This club discount is extended for all servicing, and parts of all makes Jones deals with. These discounts afford our membership the opportunity to recoup their club dues many times over depending on how often they utilize it.  Jones offers delivery of parts for those members who are out of the immediate area. We encourage our members to take advantage of this benefit.

We hold monthly club meetings on the 3rd Sunday of every month at the Hillside Café just off of route 83 in Etters PA at exit 35 to discuss over lunch; club business, and share ideas on ways to improve, promote, and organize functions. All members are strongly encouraged to attend and add their input, and suggestions. If you are interested in learning more on SVGTO we encourage you to attend a meeting.

SVGTO is a proud supporter of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA.  We collect donations throughout the season at all venues we as a group participate in as well as a portion of our proceeds from our car show and present them to RMDHC. All donations we collect and present to RMDHC stays locally and benefits those families who utilize this marvelous facility.  We believe in giving back to the community and feel every organization should adopt a worthwhile charitable cause and assist where they can, getting involved in their community. By clicking the RMDHC logo you can make a donation to the RMDHC. To learn more on their cause please visit their website: The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Pennsylvania
